Later in the day, the Croatian government also reported that it sent to parliament a bill on proclaiming 25 September as the day of the reintegration of Istria, the coastal cities of Rijeka and Zadar and island with the mainland.
For some time in the 20th century until 1943, those Croatian areas were under the rule of Italy. On 25 September, Croatian anti-Fascist authorities decided in the Istrian town of Pazin to reintegrate the said areas into Croatia.
The Ivo Sanader government also proposes that the Sabor proclaim 15 January as the day of the international recognition of Croatia.
