"President Klaus's arrival at the HGK and meeting with business people from both countries is a message that they must cooperate," Mesic said at a reception at the end of the Croatian-Czech Business Forum held as part of Klaus's three-day visit to Croatia.
"The two countries have no political or outstanding issues and Croatia enjoys big support from the friendly Czech Republic, and the possibilities for cooperation are huge, not only with it but with all countries gravitating to the Mediterranean," Mesic told Czech and Croatian business people.
"Presidents don't make business deals, nor do prime ministers," he said, adding they ensured a framework in which entrepreneurs could make the deals.
Klaus said politicians were in charge of creating conditions for economic cooperation and that he used all his visits as a statesman to speak about that and not only about geopolitical and geostrategic relations.
The Czech president said he considered economic diplomacy an integral part of politics.
He wished Croatian and Czech business people successful talks, saying the potentials existed, and voiced hope that Croatia would soon attract plenty of Czech business people and not just tourists.
Klaus began his Croatian visit yesterday, when he met top state officials, and will end it tomorrow by visiting Dubrovnik.
