The overall net profit of the 20 insurance companies was 329.8 million kuna, while the remaining five companies, namely Aurum, Veritas, Generali, Generali zivotno and Basler zivotno, operated with a total loss of 122.7 million kuna.
According to the report on the insurance sector and the performance of the Directorate for the Supervision of Insurance Companies (DINADOS) for 2004, the Croatian insurance market saw 10 per cent growth, with the leading insurance company, Croatia osiguranje, losing a portion of the market to its immediate competitors.
Last year's overall gross premiums charged by the 24 insurance companies amounted to 6.62 billion kuna.
