VENICE, Sept 4 (Hina) - Two Croatian old-time boats 'Fiamita' from
Rovinj and Falkusa from the island of Vis, took part in the traditional
historical parade of gondolas and other boats in Venice for the first time this
year. The first parade of this kind was held in 1315.
Today, the event consists of two parts, one of them being the
historical parade and the other is a race of gondolas.
On the occasion of the first participation of Croatian boats in the
event, the head of Istria County, Ivan Jakovcic, arrived in Venice where he met
with the head of the Veneto region, Giancarlo Galano for talks on cooperation
between the two regions and Croatia's bids to enter the European Union.
