ZAGREB, Aug 27 (Hina) - The Croatian Party of Rights (HSP) hails
the Croatian Government moves regarding Slovenia's decision to declare the
continental shelf and ecological zone in the Adriatic, but the party believes
that these steps are not sufficient to protect Croatia's interests, HSP
parliamentary deputy Tonci Tadic and advisor to party president Mate Granic
told a news conference on Saturday. The two officials advocated that
the dispute between Croatia and Slovenia be solve through arbitration before
the International Court of Justice in The Hague.
Granic and Tadic said the Government must not have illusion that the
dispute could be solved bilaterally. They said the Government must let Slovenia
know that Slovenia's decision carried no wight and exclude the neighbouring
country from the group of EU member states which are allowed to fish in the
open sea within Croatian fishing zone.
Tadic said Slovenia was not respecting the joint declaration on
avoiding incidents and was not behaving like a good neighbour.
