MOSTAR, Aug 19 (Hina) - The international border crossing of
Metaljka between Bosnia-Herzegovina and Montenegro was on Friday closed to
traffic for the third day as local citizens in that Serb-populated Bosnian town
of Cajnice mounted blockades after a member of the Bosnian State Border
Service, Bojan Prodanovic of Serb descent, was killed at the border
crossing. The protesters in this eastern part of the Bosnian Serb
entity insist that the entity's President Dragan Cavic or Prime Minister Pero
Bulejkovic should arrive there for talks.
Prodanovic was killed at the border crossing on Wednesday when another
member of the Bosnian Border Service, Anis Bandic of Muslim descent, shot him
dead.
Calling for the defusion of the situation, the international
community's High Representative to Bosnia, Paddy Ashdown, said on Friday that
it would be irresponsible to state that the murder had been related to ethnic
conflict.
It seems to me that it will be established that the murder was
committed for personal reasons, the Briton said.
