SANTIAGO, Aug 19 (Hina) - The Chilean billionaire of Croatian descent,Andronico Luksic Abaroa, who built one of South America's biggestbusiness empires, died of cancer on Thursday at the age of 76, Reutersnews agency reported on

business empires, died of cancer on Thursday at the age of 76, Reuters news
agency reported on Friday citing local television stations. Luksic,
whose personal fortune was recently estimated at US$1.6 billion, had business
interests in the brewing, fishing, banking and telecommunications industries in
Chile, Reuters said.
He was the son of a Croat who emigrated to Chile in 1910, and his
family was a major shareholder in Chile's second largest bank, Banco de
Chile.
Luksic was also involved in the privatisation process in Croatia in the
1990s.
