ZAGREB, Aug 15 (Hina) - Croatian President Stjepan Mesic on Monday senta letter of condolence to Cypriot President Tassos Papadopulos on thedeath of 121 passengers and members of the crew when a Cyprus airlinercrashed near Athens on
Sunday. Of the 121 victims, 48 were children.
ZAGREB, Aug 15 (Hina) - Croatian President Stjepan Mesic on Monday
sent a letter of condolence to Cypriot President Tassos Papadopulos on the
death of 121 passengers and members of the crew when a Cyprus airliner crashed
near Athens on Sunday. Of the 121 victims, 48 were children. "Being
shocked by the tragic death of your citizens, particularly of children, I offer
my condolences on my own behalf and on behalf of Croatian citizens," President
Mesic said in the message which his Office released on Monday.
The Helios Airways Boeing 737 flying from Larnaca to Athens crashed
into a mountain in Greece, killing all 121 aboard. Over a hundred of passengers
were Cypriots, and there were also an Armenian family and 12 Greeks on board
of the plane.
Cyprus proclaimed 15,16 and 17 August as days of mourning.
