This opening of this service was announced in Belgrade on Thursday by Croatian Ambassador to the state union of Serbia-Montenegro (SCG), Tonci Stanicic and the SCG minister in charge of human and ethnic minorities' rights, Rasim Ljajic.
"The problem of refugees is one of outstanding issues between SCG and Croatia and this issue is mentioned almost at all bilateral meetings," Minister Ljajic said,
He said that according to figures presented by Croatia, since 1995, 117,000 Serb refugees have returned to their prewar homes in Croatia, while Serb refugee associations put this figure at 70,000.
The Croatian ambassador said that "there are no longer political obstacles for the solution of refugee problems, and we are completely open and sincere in the intention to help refugees to return to Croatia. In this we also count on the assistance of refugee organisation, both domestic and international ones, as well as ministries and institutions of SCG and Serbia".
