Several hundreds of Kosovo Croats prepared a welcome reception for President Mesic outside St. Nicholas Church in Janjevo, 18 kilometres south of Pristina.
Addressing the present, Mesic said that he met Croats from Janjevo before arriving in the town and added that they always created a tolerant atmosphere.
"I would be glad if some Croats from Janjevo would return to Kosovo now that the province is peaceful," Mesic said.
A priest from Janjevo, Mate Parlic, said that Mesic visit would help the position of Croats on the economic and political front.
Some 300 Croats live in Janjevo.
