DORH dismissed an article in the Jutarnji List daily saying that there was a list of people whose interviews have been requested.
DORH says that after having received information about possible violations of the international laws of war in Operation Maslenica on 22 January 1993, the Zagreb county office of the DORH requested the police to check allegations.
DORH has not asked to interview either Vladimir Faber or any other person and there is no list with people whom DORH would like to question, the Croatian prosecutorial authorities said, adding that the Jutarnji List article was groundless and contained premature allegations.
According to the press, the Serbian prosecutorial authorities sent a request for establishing possible individual responsibility of a score of Croatian special police officers for the ambush killing of 22 Serb paramilitaries. Faber, who is currently Interior Ministry State Secretary and who commanded the Maslenica operation being at the helm of the special police, has said that Maslenica was a brilliantly planned and conducted operation and that he is proud of his comrades.
The operation was launched on January 22, 1993 when Croatia was split in half and communication between the country's north and south almost impossible, and within the next three days the Croatian forces regained control of Zadar's hinterland, the Strait of Maslenica, Zemunik airport, and subsequently the Peruca dam.
