Speaking at a workshop on ecological agriculture, organised by the Croatian agriculture ministry, Zanoli said that although 83 percent of respondents in in the cities of Zagreb and Split know that ecological products exist, they mainly do not understand what kind of products ecological products are and their advantages.
That's why the professor from the Italian city of Ancona proposes more concrete promotion of such products and the establishment of network for their distribution.
A Croatian producer of ecological products, Zeljko Mavrovic, said that both consumers and producers were expecting too much from products of organic agriculture. The former expect that they will be completely protected from illnesses if they use such products and the latter believe that they can set up economically viable production at small plots.
Mavrovic suggested that producers should focus on sale at open-air markets at the fist stage of their business rather than orienting to shelves of chains of stores.
He also suggested that they should not expect too much from the state regarding the assistance in the advertising of their products, purchase or sale.
