The Bavarian PM told a joint news conference that his country wanted to expand cooperation, notably in the economy, with Croatia which is interesting to foreign investors.
Stoiber praised Croatia's infrastructure and the northern Adriatic port of Rijeka, adding that Rijeka was access for Bavaria and Munich to the Mediterranean. He hailed the building of highways in Croatia adding that Slovenia was lagging behind in that segment.
Mesic also stressed good cooperation between Bavaria and Croatia which established their relations over 30 years ago.
"Let's bring the Adriatic Sea closer to Bavaria by building highways," Mesic said and added he expected the development of cooperation in tourism.
The Croatian president thanked Bavaria on its support to Croatia during and after the Homeland War. The Bavarian PM expressed understanding for Croatia's aspirations to join the European Union.
Yesterday, Stoiber held talks with Croatian Prime Minister Ivo Sanader.
