Shalev said in the letter that Mesic sent a strong message to the world by arriving in Jerusalem and once again confirmed that it was necessary to join forces in the fight against anti-Semitism and racism.
Shalev said in the letter, which was presented to Mesic by Israeli Ambassador to Croatia, Yael Rubinstein, that he hoped Croatia and the Yad Vashem Memorial Centre would intensify cooperation in education.
The new Museum, worth US$100 million was opened by Israeli President Moshe Katsav on March 15 in the presence of some 30 statesmen, including Croatian President Mesic.
