The new government service, known as HITRO.HR, was formally put into operation on Wednesday by Prime Minister Ivo Sanader, who said that entrepreneurs would now be able to set up a business in four steps instead of 12 as had been the case so far and that it would take them not more than two weeks.
The prime minister said that the aim of the new service was to cut red tape and ensure "a quick and effective service", and added that it would also reduce bribery and corruption.
The HITRO.HR service will be opened in Split later this month and after that in all major towns.
