RIJEKA, May 11 (Hina) - The president of the Croatian Democratic
Union (HDZ), Prime Minister Ivo Sanader, said at an election rally in Rijeka on
Tuesday evening that Croatia must continue to cooperate with the International
Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY) stressing, however, that
nobody would do revisions to the Homeland War. Now, after receiving
the proposal to amend the ICTY indictment against generals Ivan Markac and
Mladen Cermak, we will mark the 10th anniversary of Operation Storm even
stronger than we planned, Sanader said.
Nobody in the world can change what really happened, the PM said.
We will not allow such events to tie us to the past in stead of to
concentrate on the future, Sanader said.
The president of the ruling party said that Croatia must continue to
cooperate with the Hague tribunal and reiterated that the ICTY Prosecution was
only one party in the process.
He highlighted the importance of Croatia's joining the EU and stressed
that some sacrifices must be made to achieve this goal.
