"Every threat should be taken seriously, everything should be examined, but I'm certain that there's no danger," he told the press at the government headquarters when asked about the gravity of terrorist threats the media wrote about today.
According to today's newspapers, Vecernji List daily, Croatian Television, and commercial television RTL on Thursday received a letter from an unidentified terror group saying terrorist attacks would be launched in Croatia between May 5 and 12.
The letter was also addressed to the President's Office and the government but they have not received it, according to the latest Interior Ministry information.
President Stjepan Mesic described the threats as "absolute nonsense".
Police chief Ivica Franic told the press, among other things, that the police did not have even one fact that would corroborate the allegations in the letter and that security services had not cautioned them about any threat against Croatia either.
Interior Minister Marijan Mlinaric said earlier today that there existed no real motives for the threats.
