He said the HND members' list did not include Christian Horvat, the name in which, according to today's newspapers, Gotovina's international press card was issued.
Duka said there had been cases of forged international press cards in the past and that the Municipal Court in Samobor ruled in one such case in 2001.
"That was a criminal act that was penalised. But we can't claim that the membership card in Gotovina's possession was forged by the same person," said Duka.
Claims that apart from a fake Croatian passport, Gotovina also has an international press card were run today by Globus weekly and Jutarnji List daily.
In Croatia an original international press card may be issued only by the HND as a member of the International Federation of Journalists. The card provides the bearer with cheaper hotel accommodation or air-fare discounts, among other things.
