This will be the first general assembly of the World Academy to be held in southeast Europe, a member of the Croatian Academy of Arts and Sciences (HAZU), Ivo Slaus, told a news conference in Zagreb on Wednesday.
The assembly will focus on the future of the knowledge and challenges of the evolution in the 21st century.
The Academy's president, Walter Truett Anderson, told the news conference that the Academy was established in 1960, at an initiative of a group of intellectuals, including Albert Einstein, Robert Oppenheimer and lord Bertrand Russel etc.
The World Academy is a non-official network of approximately 500 individual Fellows from diverse cultures, nationalities, and intellectual disciplines, chosen for eminence in art, the natural and social sciences, and the humanities. Its activities focus on the social consequences and policy implications of knowledge, and the challenges confronting people in a rapidly changing global civilization.
