Borovec informed reporters about this change at a news conference on Wednesday.
"Gordana Vulama will no more perform the duty of the spokeswoman for personal reasons," he briefly stated at a regular news conference in Zagreb today.
Borovec declined to reveal what kind of personal reasons Vulama cited.
He wouldn't comment on reports in the media that the spokeswoman was relieved of her duties as she is a sister of lawyer Marin Ivanovic, who is a member of the defence team of the runaway general Ante Gotovina, and that "due to such relations she could not any longer communicate with journalists".
"I cannot comment on speculations, particularly not on those with regard to Gotovina," Borovac said adding that Vulama's status in the police did not change and that she formally retained the position of spokesperson, but that she would perform other tasks.
Borovec commended Vulama for her work in the police where she has been employed for 19 years. She was appointed the Zagreb police spokeswoman in late September 2003.
