ZAGREB, April 25 (Hina) - The Croatian Journalists Association
(HND) said on Monday that journalists politically engaged in May's local
elections could not simultaneously objectively report about the elections
because they "were undoubtedly in conflict of interest". The HND
said this referred to journalists who worked in election headquarters or were
on slates.
The association said that journalists could run in elections like all
other citizens, but that political activity must not be mixed with professional
activity.
The HND said that editors should prevent journalists participating in
the elections in any way from promoting platforms.
The association also said that a considerable number of journalists was
engaged in the election campaign.
