Solana said this upon arriving at a meeting of the EU foreign ministers who gathered in Luxembourg on Monday.
An EU task force, in charge of evaluating Croatia's cooperation with the war crimes tribunal in The Hague, will meet for the first time on Tuesday, the second day of the ministerial meeting. The task force was founded in March, following a decision of the European Council after the start of Croatia's EU entry talks, scheduled for March 17, were postponed.
The task force is comprised of representatives of the current and two future EU presidencies -- Luxembourg, Great Britain and Austria -- High Representative Solana and EU Enlargement Commissioner Olli Rehn.
The task force will first hold separate talks with the Chief Prosecutor of the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY), Carla del Ponte, and then with a delegation of the Croatian Government which is expected to be led by Prime Minister Ivo Sanader.
We will talk openly so as to assess the current state of affairs, Solana said and added that the goal was clear, namely to see fugitive Croatian Army General Ante Gotovina in The Hague.
Solana's spokeswoman, Christina Callach, said that a preparatory meeting of the EU task force would be held today.
