Bajic said in a press release on Friday he transferred the case to Rijeka's County Prosecutor's Office in order to ensure an undisturbed and objective investigation.
The Rijeka County Prosecutor's Office proposed placing the suspect in custody and transferring the case to another county court in order to ensure objectivity following claims by some Gospic leaders that the case was unfounded.
Bajic said that if it was established that the Gospic County Prosecutor's Office had committed any omissions in connection with the case, he would take measures in accordance with the relevant law.
J.M. was arrested last week on suspicion of raping a US female player of the Gospic-Industrogradnja basketball club. He denied the accusations.
