"It was an honour to be a member of the HDZ when it was led by the first Croatian President, (the late) Franjo Tudjman," Glavas said, adding that his party membership resembled a nightmare during the leadership of the current HDZ president, Ivo Sanader. He also criticised Sanader for vanity and egocentrism.
Vladimir Sisljagic, an MP and president of the HDZ Municipal Committee in Osijek, who was also ousted today, said he was sorry the HDZ leadership did not understand problems of the Slavonia and Baranja regions and the justified requests to enable them to start recovering.
MP Ivan Drmic, the third HDZ member ousted today, said he would continue to promote the regions' interests.
