All indictees must be handed over to the Hague tribunal. EU member-countries, which will decide on opening negotiations on association with the EU, will closely follow any concrete progress with regard to all Hague tribunal indictees, Rehn said after he met Serbia-Montenegro Foreign Minister Vuk Draskovic.
During his talks with Serbian Prime Minister Vojislav Kostunica, the European Commission official agreed that it was necessary to reach national consensus on further activities on the road towards European institutions, and to adopt a national strategy on the matter.
After meeting with Serbian President Boris Tadic, Rehn said the feasibility study was the first contractual obligation of Serbia-Montenegro with the EU as well as the first step towards the EU on which there were neither short-cuts nor breaks, as reforms required a speedy pace.
Rehn and Tadic agreed that it was necessary to carry out reforms in the judiciary, the state administration and the fight against corruption and organised crime.
The European Commissioner arrived in Belgrade on Monday, and on Tuesday he will depart for Podgorica to meet Montenegrin officials.
