ZAGREB, April 12 (Hina) - Croatia will not change a decree on
conditions for the arrival and stay of foreign yachts and boats for sport and
leisure in Croatia's internal and territorial waters, Sea, Tourism and
Transport Minister Bozidar Kalmeta said on Tuesday commenting on a press
release recently published by the German auto-club ADAC on the bad effects of
the Croatian decree. Kalmeta said the Croatian government had
introduced two institutes in order to counter the grey charter (illegal rent of
vessels), stickers and lists of passengers aboard foreign yachts. He said that
his ministry's officials had held a series of meetings with European
representatives and travel companies' representatives to reach this
solution.
According to the decree, payment for stickers covers the payment of all
tariffs and contributions. The number of passengers on boats is also limited,
and the owner of a vessel can have twice as many passengers as its capacity
plus 30 percent more during a year. While a boat is anchored, the number is not
limited.
