ZAGREB, March 30 (Hina) - The Croatian parliament wrapped up
Wednesday's sitting by debating a government bill of amendments to the law on
fishing which is expected to improve the control of fishing and protection of
fishing areas. The opposition in principle endorsed the intention to
improve the protection of fish resources, but maintained that the government's
bill was not socially sensitive enough in provisions regarding small-scale
fishing, sport fishing and recreational fishing.
Small-scale fishing is defined a fishing for personal needs and
envisages catching up to five kilos of fish.
Parliament convenes tomorrow.
