A protest statement signed by the leader of the Association's Steering Committee, Ivan Matesa, read that war victims were offended by First Guard Brigade Street having been renamed St. Sava (Serb Orthodox saint) Street, as well as by other new street names, which "insult the Homeland War and Croatia and glorify the ideology of Serbian territorial expansionism".
The association and the four parties stress that the combined army and police operation "Storm" is the most honourable and holy act, which had rid formerly occupied Croatian areas of Serb rebels.
The four parties urged the state authorities to react to what they said were acts of provocation and the state authorities to stop currying favour with leaders of national minorities.
The renaming of streets in Plaski - which was voted by councillors of the ruling Independent Democratic Serb Party (SDSS) - was condemned yesterday by the Karlovac County branch of the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ), the HIP party, and some police associations.
