Two refugees returned to Otocac, one to Civljane and seven to the Kistanje area, the head of the Red Cross branch in Knin, Josipa Rimac, told Hina.
Two families said they had decided to return to their homes in the municipality of Kistanje in Sibenik-Knin County, about 250 kilometres south of Zagreb, primarily for economic reasons.
Both were younger families who returned to their rebuilt homes, one in the village of Zecevo and the other in the village of Varivode.
An elderly Serb man returned to his home in the village of Cetina in the municipality of Civljane.
Rimac said that the returnees were accompanied by trucks carrying their belongings and aid packages. She added that the European Agency for Reconstruction had provided the returnees with aid in the form of agricultural tools, machinery and domestic animals.
About 120 people applied to return, but elderly people decided to cancel their journey until spring owing to extremely cold weather in the Lika and Dalmatia regions, organisers said.
The return of the refugees was organised by the Danish Council for Refugees in cooperation with the European Agency for Reconstruction and the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR).
About 7,000 Serb refugees have returned in an organised manner to their prewar homes in the Lika and Dalmatia regions.
About 19,000 Serb refugees have returned to Croatia since 1998 with the assistance of the UNHCR.
