The citation of the award, signed by the Paris deputy mayor in charge of culture, Patrick Bloche, reads that Selem is credited for his contribution to the establishment and work of the Europe - Odeon theatre from 1983 to 1989. The laureate was also commended for the promotion of the Parisian and French thespian arts and for his staging of works by French authors.
