KOPRIVNICA, Jan 7 (Hina) - The Koprivnica branch of the CroatianPeasant Party (HSS) has expelled the head of Kalnik municipality,Mladen Keser, from its membership after he ran in a presidentialelection in defiance of the party's
decision not do so.
KOPRIVNICA, Jan 7 (Hina) - The Koprivnica branch of the Croatian
Peasant Party (HSS) has expelled the head of Kalnik municipality, Mladen Keser,
from its membership after he ran in a presidential election in defiance of the
party's decision not do so.The HSS branch said in a statement on Friday that by participating in
the first round of voting on January 2 Keser harmed the party's reputation and
political interests.
Thanking citizens who had cast their ballots for the incumbent President
Stjepan Mesic, the Koprivnica HSS called on them to vote for Mesic again in
the second round on January 16.
Koprivnica is a town situated about 100 kilometres northeast of Zagreb
near the border with Hungary.
