ZAGREB, Dec 18 (Hina) - All 11 members of the Croatian military
contingent that was deployed over the last month and a half in Kandahar as part
of the UN peacekeeping mission in Afghanistan returned on Monday to
Mazar-i-Sharif in northern Afghanistan, the Croatian Defence Ministry said on
its web site. The stay of this group of Croatian soldiers in
Kandahar will be remembered for the first case of wounding of a Croatian
soldier, who suffered light wounds from shrapnel in a Taleban attack, as well
as for the fact that the public and part of the Croatian state leadership had
not been promptly informed about the contingent's deployment in the most
dangerous part of the country.
There are currently 147 Croatian soldiers deployed in Afghanistan, the
ministry said.
