of the Croatian Parliament's Gender Equality Committee, Gordana Sobol, said on Thursday at a meeting with the head of the UNHCR office in Zagreb, Jean Claude Concolato.
ZAGREB, Nov 23 (Hina) - A continued and effective education for
victims and perpetrators of domestic violence and better coordination of
relevant institutions are crucial for a successful fight against violence
against women, the head of the Croatian Parliament's Gender Equality Committee,
Gordana Sobol, said on Thursday at a meeting with the head of the UNHCR office
in Zagreb, Jean Claude Concolato. Concolato was visiting the
Croatian Parliament ahead of the Europe-wide campaign "Parliaments United in
Combating Domestic Violence against Women". The campaign, initiated by the
Council of Europe, will last from November 24 this year until March 8, 2008.
The UNHCR official commended Croatia for the efforts and results it had
achieved in combating violence against women, the Parliament Public Relations
Office said in a press release.
