ICCAT assembly meets in Dubrovnik for annual convention

DUBROVNIK, Nov 17 (Hina) - The assembly of the International Commission for the Conservation of Atlantic Tunas began its annual conference in the southern Adriatic resort of Dubrovnik on Friday, gathering some 600 participants, including top experts and scientists specialising in sustainable fishing from 70 countries.
DUBROVNIK, Nov 17 (Hina) - The assembly of the International Commission for the Conservation of Atlantic Tunas began its annual conference in the southern Adriatic resort of Dubrovnik on Friday, gathering some 600 participants, including top experts and scientists specialising in sustainable fishing from 70 countries.

The ICCAT will adopt decisions important for the continuation of tuna exploitation in the Mediterranean referring to multiannual catch quotas and technical tuna stock protection measures.

The president of the Fishing Association at the Croatian Chamber of the Economy, Miro Kucic, said the annual catch quota for Croatia was a thousand tonnes, and that up to 4,000 tonnes of tuna are bred in six domestic farms.

The event closes on November 26.
