London and the northern Adriatic city of Pula will as of now be connected throughout the year on Thursdays and Saturdays.
As of February, Ryanair will also introduce Pula-Dublin flights.
Half an hour upon landing in Pula, the Ryanair plane took off for London with 143 passengers aboard travelling for only 17.56 euros.
The Istria County Government member in charge of tourism, Veljko Ostojic, underlined the importance of the new flights for tourism and the economy in general. He estimated that every passenger would stay in Istria a minimum five days, accounting for 200,000 nights annually.
Pula Airport director Bruno Rogovic said the new flights were introduced because tourists from England and Ireland were coming back to Istria, and that Ryanair was expected to bring more than 80,000 passengers in the first year.
