ZAGREB, Oct 10 (Hina) - Moldova joined the Southeast Europe Cooperation Process by signing the SEECP Charter at a ceremony in Bucharest on Tuesday.

The ceremony was attended by Deputy Prime Minister Damir Polancec of Croatia as the current SEECP president.

According to a Croatian government press release, before the signing ceremony Polancec met for talks with Prime Ministers Calin Popescu Tariceanu of Romania and Vasile Tarlev of Moldova.

During the talks, Polancec said that SEECP member states had made significant progress in democratisation and economic development and that they saw their future within Euro-Atlantic integration.

Polancec said that during its presidency Croatia would continue supporting all member states in their aspirations to membership of the EU and NATO and promoting democratic and pro-European elements in Southeast European countries, development of good neighbourly relations and cooperation based on equality and respect, and economic cooperation with a view to encouraging the economic development of the whole region and its integration with the European Union.

The three officials stressed the importance of economic cooperation as a very important factor ensuring the permanent stability and prosperity of Southeast Europe, and highlighted intensified economic cooperation and liberalisation of trade in Southeast Europe through the modernised and expanded Central European Free Trade Agreement, the press release said.

Croatia took over the one-year presidency of the SEECP at a summit in Thessaloniki in May this year.

The SEECP includes Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Greece, Macedonia, Moldova, Romania, Serbia, and Turkey.
