LJUBLJANA, Oct 10 (Hina) - The Slovene Foreign Ministry said in a statement on Tuesday it expected Croatia to implement the necessary legal procedures as soon as possible and make it possible for physical and legal persons from Slovenia to acquire real estate in Croatia, as well as that in late June it sent Croatia a diplomatic note informing it that the principle of reciprocity had been met because Croatian nationals and legal persons were able to buy real estate in Slovenia.

The statement, released on the ministry's web site, was in response to a Sunday report on Slovene Television which quoted a state secretary at the Croatian Foreign Ministry, Hido Biscevic, as saying that Zagreb had not received a diplomatic note about Slovenia adopting a law enabling Croatian nationals to buy real estate in Slovenia thus meeting the condition of reciprocity.

The Slovene ministry said that on June 28 it had sent a diplomatic note to Croatia informing it officially that a law on this matter had taken effect. The law defines conditions for the acquisition of ownership rights by physical and legal persons from EU candidate-countries over real estate in Slovenia.

The Slovene ministry goes on to say that on September 28 it sent Croatia a note officially requesting information on a contact person who could provide Slovene nationals and legal persons with additional information regarding the consent of a relevant Croatian institution, but that it still had not received a reply.

The ministry said it expected Croatia to implement the necessary legal procedure as soon as possible and enable physical and legal persons from Slovenia to acquire real estate in Croatia.
