BELGRADE, Oct 3 (Hina) - The chief prosecutor of the Hague war crimes tribunal, Carla del Ponte, held talks with Serbian Prime Minister Vojislav Kostunica on Tuesday, the second day of her visit to Belgrade.

A statement from Kostunica's office quoted Kostunica as saying that the completion of cooperation with the tribunal was in Serbia's interest and that the government's action plan had only one purpose - to locate, arrest and transfer Ratko Mladic and other indictees to The Hague.

Kostunica said he fully supported Vladimir Vukcevic and Rasim Ljajic, who coordinate a team in charge of tracking down the runaway indictees and who attended Kostunica's talks with del Ponte, and that setting up the team was a clear message that cooperation with the Hague tribunal was only a matter of applying relevant legislation.

Del Ponte was scheduled to meet with the head of the National Council for Cooperation with the ICTY, Rasim Ljajic, Serbian Deputy PM Ivana Dulic Markovic and Foreign Minister Vuk Draskovic later in the day.

After the meetings, statements will be made for the press.

On the first day of her visit to Belgrade on Monday, del Ponte spent more

than five hours speaking with the Serbian War Crimes Prosecutor and coordinator of the government's action plan for the arrest of Mladic and other ICTY indictees, Vladimir Vukcevic. The meeting was held behind closed doors.

After meeting Vukcevic, del Ponte met Serbian President Boris Tadic, who told Radio B92 that del Ponte had urged compliance with both international and national regulations on the arrest of indictees.

In mid-October Del Ponte is expected to submit to the European Union a report on whether Serbian authorities are doing their best to arrest Mladic and other indictees, after which the EU will decide on the possible continuation of talks with Serbia on a Stabilisation and Association Agreement.
