The association's leadership sent open letters to the Government, and other associations of Croatian retirees, urging for the solution of the problem of 47,000 pensioners who lived in the said areas and who did not receive guaranteed incomes from the pension funds until 1998 when the peaceful reintegration of eastern Croatia areas into the state's legal and constitutional system was completed.
The newly-established association urges the government to find a model for compensating pensions which were not paid from the state pension funds from 1991 to 1998.
During the occupation, they received the pensions from the authorities of the statelet run by Serb rebels.
In the open letter, the financially injured retirees describe those pensions as "low and below human dignity".
