Attorney Domagoj Resetar told a news conference, which was also attended by witness Damir Huber, that plain-clothed police had been following Huber for a week, which he considered the pressuring of the witness, as well as that Huber was told to come to the police department today for an interview "regarding information on obstruction of evidence".
The attorney said that calling the witness to be interviewed by the police before giving a statement at the Zagreb County Court was aimed at "leading him to give a false testimony or prevent him from giving one".
The attorney said that he did not know if Huber had been summonsed to testify in the proceedings against Glavas by the prosecution or the defence.
Resetar told reporters that Huber had been contacted on September 18 by an employee of the Osijek County police department, Vjekoslav Tapsanji, and asked that they meet briefly to discuss his testimony before the Zagreb County Court, which Huber refused.
On Tuesday, police served Huber with a request that he show up for an interview at the police department on Wednesday morning, but he did not comply and will give his testimony only before the Zagreb County Court, where he was summonsed to appear on October 6, Resetar said.
Huber was a Homeland War volunteer, was imprisoned and survived the most difficult tortures, the attorney said.
Huber did not speak at today's press conference, but when asked if he had been a member of the military unit led by Branimir Glavas, he said that such a unit had never existed, and that he had been a member of the 160th unit.
Osijek County police department chief Vladimir Faber had no comment on the claims.
