OSIJEK, Jan 27
(Hina) - Croatia saw a 1.6-percent drop in industrial
production and a 7-percent drop in employment in the industrial sector
in 2010, but it still lacks courage to undertake structural reforms
and cut the "untenable costs" of the public sector, trade union
federation (HUS) leader Ozren Matijasevic said in the eastern city of
Osijek on Thursday.
The only way to reverse the negative trends in the real sector is to increase investments, and therefore HUS has supported projects recently announced the by the government, Matijasevic told a news conference.
He calls for investments in agriculture, including irrigation, in eastern Croatia.
