PRISTINA, Aug 30 (Hina) - The UN chief envoy for talks on the
final status of Kosovo, Martti Ahtisaari, has never talked about the collective
guilty of the Serbian people, but he has said that every nation has its burden
which it must carry and live with its past and accept it, Ahtisaari's
spokeswoman, Hua Jiang, said in Pristina on Wednesday. According to
her, Ahtisaari was recently misinterpreted, which was why his statement about
the historical burden stirred up heated debates and disapproval from leading
Serbian politicians.
Last week, the former Finnish president said that the legacy of
(Serbian President) Slobodan Milosevic must be taken into account during the
negotiations on the final status of Kosovo and that each nation must answer for
its past.
