The purpose of the programmes is to improve the performance and efficiency of tax and customs services and will be implemented through a series of joint training activities.
Participation in the Customs 2007 programme will make it possible for Croatian customs officials to improve their work and prepare for assuming the function of the EU Customs Service.
The Fiscalis 2003-2007 programme is designed to improve the functioning of national tax systems by developing cooperation between the tax services of EU member states.
Three quarters of the costs will be financed from European Community pre-accession funds, while the rest will be covered by Croatia, Suker said.
