ZAGREB, June 22 (Hina) - A commemoration was held at Jazovka pit near Sosic on Zumberak hill west of Zagreb on Thursday for Croatian troops whom the partisans threw into the pit in 1943 and in May and June 1945.

Mass was said, wreaths were laid and candles were lit. Respects were also paid to wounded soldiers abducted from Zagreb's hospitals in 1945 and killed at Jazovka.

The commemoration is traditionally held on June 22, when Croatia observes Antifascist Struggle Day, and is organised by the Jazovka Memorial March Committee, which is comprised of several associations, parties and individuals.

The organisers, which this year were headed by the Croatian Political Prisoners Society, said the march on Jazovka was held on June 22 "because those Croats disguised as antifascists and democrats foist this date as a national holiday".

Organisers estimated that about one thousand people from Croatia and abroad attended the commemoration.

The participants issued a Proclamation stating that June 22 "is not the day of the antifascist but of the Chetnik-partisan uprising against Croatia," and asking parliament, the government and judicial bodies "when they will try the so-called antifascists" for "Yugo-communist crimes (committed) by 1945 and from 1945 to 1990".
