Jung arrived in Sarajevo to visit German troops in the European Union Force in Bosnia and held talks with Defence Minister Nikola Radovanovic and the international community's High Representative, Christian Schwarz-Schilling.
After meeting Schwarz-Schilling, Jung said the Bosnian authorities were obliged to arrest those accused of war crimes by the UN tribunal in The Hague if they were on Bosnian territory. He added, however, that arresting fugitives was the joint responsibility of the authorities in the region and the international community.
Jung said the Hague tribunal's chief prosecutor, Carla del Ponte, told him during their last meeting in Berlin that the two most wanted fugitives, Radovan Karadzic and Ratko Mladic, were hiding in Serbia and that she had confirmation from Belgrade that they would be extradited.
