ZAGREB, June 7 (Hina) - The date of Croatia's admission to the EU
depends on the country's negotiating efforts and the existing problems in the
EU should not slow down that process, the chairman of the national committee
monitoring Croatia's EU entry talks, Ivica Racan, said in Zagreb on
Wednesday. "The date of Croatia's admission to the EU depends on
what the country is doing and if it does its share of the job, we expect that
outstanding issues in the EU will not be an obstacle to admission," Racan said
in a comment on Tuesday's statement by German Chancellor Angela Merkel that a
decision on a review of the European constitution should be adopted by the end
of 2008.
Racan said that he would visit Brussels for talks with European
officials next week.
