Mark Wheeler, a historian who earned his doctoral degree on the subject of the former Yugoslavia, was the last witness examined by prosecutor Mark Moore in the trial of Mile Mrksic, Veselin Sljivancanin and Miroslav Radic, who are charged with a massacre of Croatian prisoners of war on the Ovcara farm outside Vukovar in November 1991.
The trial resumes next week with hearings of defence witnesses. Defence counsel did not indicate how many witnesses they intend to call, but the presiding judge recommended that they step up the pace of hearings so that the trial, which started in October 2005, could be completed as soon as possible.
