The Contact Group is comprised of the United States, Germany, Great Britain, France, Italy, and Russia.
In a joint statement issued by the U.S. office in Pristina, Serbs were called on to participate in Kosovo institutions and Albanians to be flexible and generous in the Kosovo status negotiations, notably regarding decentralisation. The statement also highlighted the Albanian side's duty to protect the Serb Orthodox Church.
The statement called on Kosovo officials to offer during the negotiations the results of the implementation of standards set by the international community, notably those referring to the position of minorities.
Serb List for Kosovo representative Oliver Ivanovic said after a meeting with the Contact Group that Kosovo Serbs were recommended to prepare themselves for the implementation of solutions to be agreed between Pristina and Belgrade.
The meeting was also attended by the UN civil administrator in Kosovo, Soren Jessen-Petersen, Kosovo Force commander General Giuseppe Valotto, Kosovo President Fatmir Sejdiu, Prime Minister Agim Qeku, members of the Kosovo negotiating team on the status of the province, the Serb national community, and non-Serb minorities.
