ROME, April 7 (Hina) - A very low number of Italian citizens in
Croatia went to polls on Sunday to cast their ballots at the 15th Italian
parliamentary elections, at which Italians living abroad were, for the first
time in history, able to vote for their 12 representatives and six senators,
the Italian Foreign Ministry said in a statement Friday. Only 9.11
percent of the registered Italians voted in Croatia, setting a certain negative
record because nowhere in the world such a small percentage was registered.
The elections for Italians abroad ended and the ballots arrived in
Rome. The Foreign Ministry said that a total of 1,017,172 Italians abroad cast
their votes, or 37.93 of the voters registered outside Italy.
