This was announced by Radio Serbia and Montenegro on Sunday and confirmed by obituaries that Babic's family published in Politica and Vecernje Novosti dailies of Monday.
The coffin with remains of the former Croatian Serb rebel leader will arrive at the Belgrade airport on Monday afternoon, Vecernje Novosti reported. The daily also said that it was unknown where Babic's body had been over the past few days.
Spokeswoman for the ICTY Aleksandra Milenov told the Serbian news agency Tanjug last week that Babic's family requested privacy regarding the takeover of his remains and the funeral.
Babic was sentenced to 13 years in jail after pleading guilty on January 2004 to war crimes charges in Croatia. Before he committed suicide, Babic began testifying in the trial of Milan Martic.
